Role Description:

Location: Fernbees, Hazel Grove, Stockport – Nursery Apprentice
We are looking for a Nursery Practitioner to join our team in our exciting new nursey, located on the grounds of Fernlea Care Home. Fernbees nursey will offer exciting opportunities for intergenerational interaction designed to ignite the curiosity of children and promote a culture of kindness, integrity, and empathy.

The nursery assistant will work in partnership with the room leader and is responsible for the effective leadership of the nursery team, providing training, coaching and mentoring whilst supporting team members to ensure a high standard of service.

Essential Experience:

Working in collaboration with colleagues in achieving positive working relationships through effective communication leadership and guidance and the support of all members of the nursery team.
A strong record of on-going training and/or professional qualifications
The ability to work as part of a team to ensure essential day to day tasks are completed in line with nursery policies.
relevant training linked to food Hygiene and management
Current 12hrs Paediatric First Aid Certificate

Qualifications:

12 hours paediatric first aid and first aid at work (essential)
Level 2 Food Hygiene or equivalent training
Relevant safeguarding/child protection training undertaken and a willingness to update training regularly (essential)
Personal Attributes:

Able to communicate clearly with adults and children using a variety of techniques (verbally and written)
Ability to lead and inspire nursery colleagues to achieve the highest standards or care and education.
Highly motivated and driven, achieving positive impacts
Ability to build trust and develop teams – strong empathy to understand child and parents views
Able to manage workload and manage time effectively
Responsible for:

Promote and follow guidelines implemented for managing behaviour including and supporting children to manage their own feelings.
You have the responsibility to ensure the children you care for are fully supervised and remain safe and well and you lead by example and drive the culture of Safeguarding Children.
Providing strong clear communication and partnership with your team members to ensure you are meeting the needs of all of the children within your care.
Demonstrate a clear understanding of efficient staff deployment and child supervision in line policies and procedures and with regulatory standards.
Supervise and support of meal times in line with policies and procedures to ensure high supervision of children is maintained at all times.
Risk assessing all areas a child can access to ensure all areas of the nursery are safe for children and remove any risks identified. Lead by example in daily tasks of keeping children safe i.e. picking up coats, sweeping sand from the floor.
Delivery of highest quality Early Childhood practice and experiences for all children in the setting, including those with Special Educational Needs and/or Disability.
Fulfil their roles, responsibilities and legislation duty in relation to safeguarding children by ensure that they have read understood and implement the Safeguarding Policies and Procedures.
Highly motivated and driven, meeting deadlines for children’s record keeping and assessments
Undertake regular 121 meetings with families’ colleagues and professionals to ensure children within your key person group are meeting their milestones for personal development. To provide support for your colleagues within the nursery and across the broader business when required.
Attendance at staff meetings and training sessions to ensure continuous professional development.
