Role Description:

Olea Care Group is seeking an experienced and dedicated Head Housekeeper to lead our housekeeping team at Doves Nest Nursing Home. This is a key leadership role within the home, ensuring our environment is safe, clean, welcoming, and maintained to the highest possible standards for our residents, visitors, and staff.

About the Role

As Head Housekeeper, you will provide visible, supportive leadership to the housekeeping team and ensure that all housekeeping services are delivered in line with best practice, regulatory requirements, and organisational standards.

You will take responsibility for planning, coordinating, and monitoring the daily workload of the housekeeping team, ensuring all cleaning schedules, checklists, and compliance documentation are completed to a high standard.

This role requires someone who leads by example, demonstrates professionalism, and is passionate about creating a high‑quality, person‑centred environment for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide frontline leadership, guidance, and support to the housekeeping team.
  • Ensure all areas of the home are cleaned and maintained to a high standard in line with schedules and regulatory requirements.
  • Allocate daily tasks, plan workloads, and oversee the completion of checklists, diaries, and cleaning schedules.
  • Promote safe working practices and ensure compliance with COSHH, infection control, and organisational policies.
  • Ensure correct use, storage, and maintenance of cleaning chemicals and equipment.
  • Support the team with training, coaching, and ongoing development.
  • Work collaboratively with the wider management team to maintain a safe, person‑centred environment.
  • Identify hazards, manage risks, and respond promptly to any issues raised.
  • Promote a positive, professional culture and encourage high standards of conduct and teamwork.
  • Lead on deep cleaning schedules and ensure periodic cleaning tasks are completed effectively.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has significant experience in housekeeping within a care, hospitality, or healthcare environment.
  • Has, or is working towards, a Level 3 Certificate in Housekeeping, Leadership and Management (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and support a team.
  • Has excellent attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining a high‑quality environment.
  • Understands person‑centred care and the importance of creating a homely, dignified environment for residents.
  • Is organised, proactive, and able to manage competing priorities.
  • Communicates clearly and professionally with residents, families, colleagues, and external professionals.
  • Acts with integrity, compassion, and professionalism at all times.

Pay: From £13.65 per hour
